Georgina Hutson-Orgill (UK) - Working with and in archives

This mentorship session as part of our 'Connecting Season' we will hear from archivist Georgina Hutson-Orgill from the remarkable Stanley Kubrick Archives, London. Her presentation will give a first introduction to working with and in archives; we will learn about the career pathway into archives, a general introduction of how to work (connect) with archives, and see some examples of artists' work.

It will cover:

  • Introduction to Georgina Hutson-Orgill

  • Understand roles within the archive

  • Learn the principles of how to work with institutional archives as an artist / researcher

  • Get inspired and see examples of original material

Georgina Orgill is the Stanley Kubrick Archivist and Assistant Manager of the Archives and Special Collections Centre at University of the Arts London. She is a qualified archivist with an MA in Archives and Records Management. She is particularly interested in archival access and acts as a tutor on several courses at UAL, teaching on Stanley Kubrick, archives and public engagement. She has contributed to the forthcoming Bloomsbury Companion to Stanley Kubrick (Bloomsbury, 2021), is currently co-editing two volumes on Kubrick and has also written on archival cataloguing and access for the teaching and learning journal SPARK.
