Simon Sweetman
Producer at Work Show Grow

Specialisms: print-production, Arts and Culture, London Theatre, keeping everything in order

Simon worked in print for almost 30 years. He left school at 17, and followed a practical hands-on route to a professional career. Following his father's footsteps onto the factory floor, he took a print apprenticeship learning the craft of typesetting - through print to production. Throughout Simon’s career he has specialised in working within Art and Culture, predominantly with London theatres. He has worked with and printed the work of Tillmans, Goldfrapp, Soth, Kander, and Goldin for theatres such as The National Theatre, The Royal Opera House, and The Old Vic. He has produced and managed the printing of over 10 million theatre programmes during his career, and oversaw combined annual client accounts worth over £1 million.

Simon started supporting Work Show Grow’s online activities during the COVID-19 lockdown, and when it came to going back to the print studio, he felt he couldn’t leave the “incredible” community that he had been part of building (genuinely his words, not ours!). He decided to make a career pivot and get fully involved, bringing his producing expertise to work with the team full time. Simon’s speciality is his encyclopaedic knowledge of printing, paper, and binding; working to tight deadlines and keeping everything (and everyone … particularly creatives) in order.
