Founded by Natasha Caruana, an award-winning and internationally recognised artist and educator. She’s had solo shows across the globe from the International Center of Photography, New York to the Rencontres d’Arles, France.

Natasha has been a passionate educator, and for the past 15 years has taught in universities across the world. She is a Senior Lecturer of Photography and holds a part-time post at University of the Arts London. She was the first and only one to go to university in her family and has never forgotten the freedom education has brought to her life. She founded Work Show Grow in 2018 to educate and inspire creatives outside of the traditional educational system. Natasha’s speciality is her positive attitude, ability to bring people together, and telling it how it is.

More questions?

What creative discipline is Work Show Grow for?

The Work Show Grow platform is photography leaning but not exclusive. Our current network includes artists from photography, ceramics, installations and ... spheres to name a few. We support the professional practice of all creative disciplines and we will help you move forward with your work.

What level do I need to be at to participate?

We celebrate and cater to whichever level and stage you are at in your creative journey. We believe in learning from each other and in the open. During our paid-for workshops, the tutors will offer suggestions for people just starting out and for people further down the line. As part of the membership, we have monthly group crits. There will always be a mixture of abilities present and contributing - this offers new perspectives and learning for everyone.

How do the Work Show Grow school crits work?

A crit is an open and respectful environment to give and receive feedback for your work. Making regular use of crit sessions gives your work structure and supports progressing an idea from its earliest stages through to completion. The peer to peer sessions are a highlight in the monthly Work Show Grow school calendar. You will need to be a paid member of the school to attend the crits.

You will receive feedback from an international perspective, and you will be supported by your fellow work show growers. You can sign up to one crit a month. They are intentionally at a variety of times and days to allow for time zone and schedule flexibility.

Each session will be for up to eight people and will take place on Zoom. Booking is made every month via Acuity Scheduling in the members area. A crit lead will introduce the session and keep everyone's presentation to time. When you become a member of Work Show Grow you will watch a short preparation video from Natasha explaining the process.

What if I miss something?

The school’s weekly group mentorship sessions and monthly workshops are all recorded and archived for paid members so if you aren't able to catch it live it’s no problem, head to the resources library in the membership area and watch the replay. Our free Instagram lives will be archived on our IGTV to watch again.

If I join the Work Show Grow school how much time do I need to commit per month?

weekly group mentoring, monthly workshop, and crit will amount to approximately 8 hours per month. You also have access to a resource’s library and 24-hour support on the Work Show Grow Slack group. You might want to hop onto Sack for 10 mins a day to ask questions, comment, and have a general read through of what the community is saying. Throughout the year, beyond the formal weekly and monthly sessions, there will be opportunities to participate in additional events such as Work Show Grow exhibitions and our global art residency programme.

What is the difference between the paid and unpaid opportunities on Work Show Grow?

We believe in finding the right balance of inclusivity whilst also valuing the expertise and experience of the tutors we have at Work Show Grow. To do this we offer a mixture of free and paid-for activities. There are free weekly professional practice IGTV sessions on our Instagram @workshowgrow. There is also a free blog on our website and an archive of practical how-to videos giving expert advice on our YouTube channel. As part of our paid programme, we offer workshops such as the ‘Money Workshop - how to secure funding for your work’. We also run a paid-for school which is a rolling monthly subscription.

We need to practice what we preach and pay our staff, so not everything can be free. If you feel you are unable to pay, we have an ambitious scholarship programme. Please get in touch to let us know your circumstances.

Do I need to be an art graduate?

No. At Work Show Grow we’re here to help you find your creativity again whether you went to art school or not. We understand that many routes can lead to the same destination, and both welcome and encourage those who have taken untraditional and non-institutional pathways towards a creative life. Work Show Grow also has no age limit. We appreciate many people return to their practice after finding financial stability in other ways. Or maybe life just got in the way and now you’re wanting to come back to your creative work. Whenever you’re ready, and wherever you are starting from, there’s a place for you at Work Show Grow.

How do the Work Show Grow school workshops work?

You can attend monthly workshops for free as part of your membership. A range of tutors will cover topics focusing on both professional and personal development. The sessions are a great chance to connect with the other members. All the workshops will be recorded and archived so if you aren't able to catch it live it’s no problem, head to the resources library in the members area and catch the replay.

If I join the school programme can I cancel my membership?

Upon choosing to leave the Work Show Grow school all you need to do is log into your account on the website and view your payment plan. From there you can cancel your plan. Your membership will cancel at the end of your chosen period (i.e. months) and you will not be charged again. Your plan must be set to cancel before your payment is due, failure to do so will mean you are liable to pay a £28 late cancellation fee as per our terms & conditions.
